How we compare solar options

Our aim is to reduce the work of finding suitable solar companies. Results are a starting point for choosing a supplier, not a property survey or a guarantee that a particular system will work at your home.
First, check what fits
We use your property, ownership, panel location, available space, solar type and battery needs to select relevant offers. A request for a simple plug-in setup excludes larger hardwired packages. Known connection restrictions and service-area exclusions also remove unsuitable offers.
We need information about a company's relevant services before it can qualify. Being in a directory, having a certification reference or having a nearby office does not establish suitability. The directory is broader than the companies supported by enough information to appear for your particular search.
Then, order the options
Best match puts documented service coverage ahead of coverage that needs confirmation. We then consider your preferred solar route, setup fit, the number of priorities matched and the strength of that match. Space, shading, electricity use and existing solar can change the order or add questions to check.
A nearby office is context, not a service boundary or ranking boost. A national or regional provider can be a strong local choice without an office nearby. National coverage still does not guarantee stock, delivery timing or that your property will pass a survey.
Each company appears once with its strongest matching offer. Results are paginated for readability, not limited to an arbitrary shortlist size. All companies meeting the selection rules remain accessible.
Prices and reviews
With lower upfront cost as your only priority, published starting prices order otherwise comparable matches. With several priorities, cost helps separate similar matches. The price-sort control orders all eligible companies by available upfront prices instead of best match. Quote-only and monthly-payment offers do not get treated as zero-cost purchases.
Prices may exclude delivery, mounting, electrical work or optional batteries. A complete total is shown only when the recorded inclusions support it. Confirm the final specification and price with the supplier.
Recent, identity-matched ratings for the solar business can break a close tie. Wider retail, energy-company or group ratings are not treated as solar-installation ratings. We show sources and review scope where figures are available; a missing rating is not a bad review.
Commercial listings
Premium pays for extra company-profile content, not a better best-match position. Free and premium companies use the same eligibility and ranking rules. Promotional sections are labelled. Payment does not create evidence of coverage, certification, reviews or product suitability.
Keep the details in perspective
We use supplier information, public sources and reviewed company submissions. We do not claim to compare every UK offer or to have independently checked every company in the directory. Prices, products, coverage and reviews can change.
Company-profile approval confirms the reviewed content, not a blanket endorsement of the business or its equipment. Permission, structural loading, wiring, installation and network requirements still need checking before purchase.
